Teaching Syllabus


This is the first and last part syllabus for Southfields Wing Chun…

Upon attending classes students will have access to the whole syllabus. The syllabus is used to guide students in their learning and so the class instructors may teach some areas before others if they feel it will be beneficial to the student. As the syllabus shows we aim to build a knowledge of technique and theory combined with self defence tests including pressure testing to make students as good as possible.


Sil Lim Tao part one

Techniques:

Open and close stance.
Punching sets 1-6.
Basic stance with punching.
Counter punch with Pak Sau.
Turning Punch.
Inside and Outside Tan Sau.
Counter punch with turning punch.
Wall bag chain punching.
Full bag turning punches.
Biu Sau and punch.
Biu Ma.

Self Defence:

Defence against wrist grab.
Defence against neck grab.


Form:

Sil Lim Tao part one and two,
including all applications.


Theory:

Centerline theory.
Last second energy.
Long bridge energy.


Instructor Training & Dummy and Weapons

Techniques:

Applications of Knife form.
Optional Instructor training.
Dao defence against sword, spear, pole and
one other weapon of choice.

Self Defence:

All of the above self defence techniques.
Defence against multiple armed assailants.
3 on 1 Sparing.

Forms:

Knife Form.
including all applications.
All the other Wing Chun forms repeated.

Theory:

Full written thesis on Wing Chun. Should aim to make an original contribution to the way people understand Wing Chun. Should aim for 6-10 thousand words but it is quality not quantity that is required.
